Peter Phillips to address micro credit forum
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of the Opposition, Dr Peter Phillips, will be the guest speaker at the Jamaica Micro Financing Association Ltd’s (JaMFA) 2017 “Micro Finance Sector Leadership Forum” Breakfast Meeting, tomorrow at the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites, Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston.
The conference will commence at 8:00am and, according to JaMFA spokesman, Raymond Gabbidon, it will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss recent developments and their impact on the sector, and the country’s economy in general.
He noted that the forum is becoming an increasingly powerful brand, serving as the premier knowledge-sharing event for the sector. Since 2012, it has attracted representatives of the various stakeholders including policy makers, Micro Finance Institutions (MFI), entrepreneurs, researchers and industry experts).
“As you are aware, micro-finance have proven to very useful in poverty alleviation and is playing a significant role in the development of emerging economics the world over. Hence, the current focus on the potential for growth and development of this sector, and its ability to increase its contribution to the growth and development of our national economy,” Gabbidon noted.
