Holness expected to announce date for St Mary SE by-election Sunday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness is expected to announce the date for parliamentary by-elections for St Mary South Eastern, when he visits the constituency on Sunday.
The seat became vacant when former People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament Dr Winston Green died suddenly last month. Green won the seat by only five votes over the Jamaica Labour Party’s Dr Norman Dunn in the February 2016 General Election.
Political newcomer Dr Shane Alexis, the new PNP man in St Mary South Eastern, will go up against Dunn in what is expected to be a keenly contested battle.
