Section of Bustamante Highway in Clarendon has collapsed — NWA
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists travelling along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon to proceed with caution as a section of the roadway in the eastbound lane between Glenmuir Road and the road to Vernamfield has collapsed.
According to communications and customer service manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, the roadway failed earlier this afternoon and an NWA team is currently at the location assessing the damage.
Shaw said the roadway has been reduced to single lane traffic and has urged motorists to obey the instructions of NWA officers on location as they try to direct vehicles around the undermined area.
The cause of the failure has not yet been determined.
To avoid delays, motorists heading towards Kingston from Mandeville are being advised to turn left at the Four Paths Roundabout and travel along Muirhead Avenue up to Glenmuir Road.
