Easy for Bilingual
Bilingual , the Anthony Nunes-trained Fearless Vision – Electrifying progeny, after three second-place finishes, finally got it right as she romped home easily by two lengths in a Restricted Allowance event over a mile (1,600m) at Caymanas Park yesterday.
Bilingual was left some five lengths behind Western Warrior (Oneil Mullings), who tried to steal a march, at the half-mile (800m), but when her rider Dick Cardenas requested a response, the chestnut filly responded with a good kick, catching the leader at the top of lane before drawing away for an emphatic victory in the end.
Western Warrior did well to finished in second place ahead of Dontae (Anthony Thomas) and Sarah Lee (Dane Dawkins).
Bilingual, who was sent off as the howling 1-5 favourite in the 11-horse field, ran the distance in a career best 1:39.0. Splits were 23.2, 46.1 and 1:11.1.
Cardenas then completed a double when he rode the Patrick Lynch-trained Executive Charm to victory in the 10th event over six furlongs (1,200m).
Also riding two winners was apprentice Dane Dawkins. Dawkins won aboard Uncle Vinnie in the second race for trainer Gary Subratie and Ballon d’Or in the seventh race for trainer Robert Darby Snr.
The win by Ballon d’Or was the 600th career win for Darby Snr, who started training horses in 1991.
