Big wins for Hillel, Wolmer’s, Bright Beginnings
HILLEL Academy, along with Wolmer’s, Bright Beginnings, St Jago and Quest went on goal-scoring sprees as the 2017 Jamaica Independence Schools’ Association (JISA) football competition got uynder way on Saturday.
The Hillel Academy aggregation crushed Morris Knibb Prep 12-0; Wolmer’s Prep thrashed St Thomas More 9-1; Bright Beginnings rushed past Meadowbrook Prep 8-1; St Jago Cathedral defeated St John the Baptist 7-1, while Quest Prep blanked Portmore Missionary 6-0.
In their 8-1 whipping of Meadowbrook , Bright Beginnings ‘ Chevaughn Watson scored four goals in the game at Ballaz playfield at Liberty Prep School last Saturday. Watson got his goals in the 23rd, 37th, 46th and 58th minutes.
The other four goals were scored by Nathaniel McCarthy in the 33rd and 41st minutes and Kristoff Williams in the third and 10th minutes. Meadowbrook’s lone goal was scored by Matthew Wright in the 37th minute.
Meanwhile, defending champions Hydel Prep were held to a goalless draw by Belair Prep at Ballaz playfield.
Other winners were St Hugh’s, who defeated St Catherine Prep 5-0; Mona tagged Glenmuir 3-1; St Andrew Prep defeated Mavisville 4-0; St Theresa’s tagged Alvernai 2-0; New Horizon beat Ardenne 3-0; Lannaman’s played to a 0-0 draw with Vaz; Solid Base clipped Sacred Heart 2-1.
Our Lady of the Angels gained points over American International School of Kingston (AISK), who did not show for their match.
