Western Sports 5-A-side finals on today
The 2017 Western Sports-sponsored Business House Five-A-Side Football season will come to a close today with the playing of the Division One and Two finals at the NWC football field in Mona.
In the curtain-rasier at 2:30 pm, former champions Spanish Grain Store will meet first-time finalists Prime Sports in the Division Two final, while Scotiabank ‘A’ will play beaten knockout finalists Seprod Limited in the Division Two final at 4:00 pm.
Coach Marcel “Fuzzy” Gayle could create history by winning all three titles as he is the coach of Spanish Grain Store and also the coach of Scotiabank. He will look to get the better of Prime Sports for the second time this season, as they clipped them 1-0 in extra time in the KO semi-final last Saturday.
He will look to Red Stripe Premier League players Jamie Robinson of UWI and Andrew White of Tivoli Gardens, and also Kasai Hinds, who was the scorer against Prime Sports in their semi-final victory. Other key players are goalkeeper Kavon Salmon, Cordian Palmer, Shamari Hibbert, Andre Aikins and former Harbour View and Rivoli player Kemar Lawrence. The Oniel Lynch-coached Prime Sports are having their best season in this competition and he is confident that his team can turn the tables against his opponents. He will look to goalkeeper Romar Bryan, Marvin Muirhead, Kemar Cockburn, Wilbourn Williams, Lenroy Edwards, Shane Holding and Division Two leading goalscorer Dushawn Morrison, who has scored 17 so far this season.
The Carl Rowe and Luton Sheldon Senior-coached Seprod Limited are having a great 2017. After winning Division Two in 2016 and promoted to Division One, they have made it to the final and will be trying to make amends for their shock 3-0 defeat in the knockout final last Wednesday. The coaches say they will be going all out to defeat Scotiabank. They will look to the leading goalscorer Andre Moulton (five goals) who plays for Tivoli Gardens, Ian Davis, who scored the lone goal in their semi-final victory over Restaurants of Jamaica, Zandel Giscombe, Norval Christie, Doran Morgan, Rushawn Rowe, Andre Campbell and Gavin Blake to get the better of their opponents.
Gayle will be hoping to put the icing on the cake by defeating Seprod. He will look to goalkeeper Damion Crooks, as well as Jermaine Gardener, Kemar Flemmings, Damion Gordon, Fabian Depass, the prolific Nicholas Scott, Shaqon Bryan and Donovan Hibbert to add to the KSA Business House 11-a-side title, which Scotiabank won last month.
