Whitmore, Downswell among JFF appointments
Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore and Wendell Downswell, who held interim roles as senior team head coach and director of football, respectively, have both been ratified by the board of directors of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to serve in more permanent capacities.
The JFF issued a media release yesterday stating that its board appointed the two, plus senior team Assistant Coach Jerome Waite at its quarterly meeting last Saturday.
Manchester Football Association President Dalton Wint was also appointed general secretary to replace Raymond Grant, who stepped down in September.
The Jamaica Observer reported earlier this month that new JFF President Michael Ricketts had promised to recommend Whitmore, Downswell and Wint for permanent posts.
The JFF said the arrangements with Whitmore and Waite are “subject to finalisation of contract”. The four appointments are set to run for two years.
The federation said its board of directors also ratified a proposal from Ricketts for the establishment of two committees in addition to existing Standing and ad hoc committees.
The National Youth Committee is to be chaired by Andre Virtue, the National Grassroots Coordinator, while the Infrastructural Development Committee is to be chaired by Grant, who recently returned to his former post as Portland FA boss.
