Falmouth FC debuts in Trelawny FA Victor Wright KO

FALMOUTH, Trelawny— Falmouth FC will make their debut this Saturday as they take on Friendships FC in the first round of the Trelawny Football Association’s Victor Wright Knockout at the Elleston Wakeland Centre, set to start at 3:00 pm.

Falmouth FC are the former champions Bacca Star United, and are being managed by a team led by Kimani Marley, son of the late Reggae superstar Bob Marley and former national table tennis player Anita Belnavis.

In addition to taking over the team, the new managers have also carried out extensive refurbishing of the Elleston Wakeland Centre where they will play their home games.

Also on Saturday, Spicy Hill and Rio Bueno will face off at Georgia, while the first round will come to an end on Sunday with two more games – Salt Marsh United against Invaders at Davis Pen, and Duanvale United against Upsetters FC at Duanvale.

The competition started last weekend, and defending champions Coopers Pen, last year’s beaten finalists Clark’s Town and President’s Cup KO champions Harmony FC, all made progress to the second round.

Coopers Pen FC blanked Kinloss FC 3-0 at home on Sunday as Holland United outscored Granville FC 3-2 at Bounty Hall.

On Saturday, Harmony FC thrashed Prospect Links 6-0 with a hat- trick from Romaine Lewis, while Clark’s Town beat Jackson Town FC 2-0 at Cedric Titus High with Lupton Haughton scoring both goals, one in either half.
