Police find submachine gun in Portmore
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The police are reporting that they seized two firearms in separate incidents yesterday.
The first incident occurred about 2:00 pm, when the Constant Spring police was conducting a search on Whitehall Avenue when a man was observed running after dropping a bag.
The bag was retrieved and the firearm was found inside. Investigators say the gun was assembled using parts from different weapons.
Just over an hour later, the Bridgeport police in St Catherine seized a sub-machine gun during an operation on Port Henderson Road in the parish. Reports are that about 3:15 pm, an operation was being conducted at the fishing village when two men fled from a house. The house was subsequently searched and a Mac-11 sub-machine gun loaded with five 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized.
No one was arrested in relation to the seizures.
