JUTC resumes ‘Night Hawk’ service
JAMAICA Urban Transit Company (JUTC) customers can look forward to another season of the company’s late-night bus service for the Christmas to new year period.
The service, dubbed ‘Night Hawk’, which resumed on Saturday, is similar to last year’s extended service, and will be provided on days other than the traditional Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Regular Night Hawk service will be provided between 11:00 pm and 12:00 midnight on: Saturday, December 16; Friday, December 22; Saturday, December 23; and Monday, December 26. However, there are two special nights — Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve — when the service will continue beyond midnight.
On Christmas Eve, December 24, typically “Grand Market” night, which normally means increased shopping activities, particularly in the downtown Kingston and Half-Way-Tree areas, operations will continue to 2:00 am on the following routes: 3, 3A, 8, 8A, 12, 12A, 17, 17A, 18, 18A, 20, 20A,21, 21B, 22, 22A, 23A, 30, 31, 31A, 32, 32B, 44, 46, 47, 50, 53, 54,61, 72, 74,75, 78, 83, 97, 98, and 99.
On New Year’s Eve, the bus company said the service will continue to 3:00 am on those routes, and will also be extended to include the following routes: 1, 500, 50A, 52, and 66.
The JUTC said it will continue to charge regular fares over the period, which are $30 and $40 for the concession categories, including the elderly and children, and $100 for adults.
The Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre will remain open, JUTC said, and should have details of the special Night Hawk service for commuters who need information.
