Dunn says report about street light misleading
MEMBER of Parliament for St Mary South Eastern Dr Norman Dunn says a radio news report that he admitted to illegally installing street lights in the constituency is misleading.
Dunn, in a press release, said that at no point did he admit to installing illegal street lights and expressed his disappointment at the misrepresentation of the facts by the media outlet.
“What was communicated was that during the election campaign several persons were being robbed and women and children became fearful, particularly with the increased activities and outsiders within the community. This was voiced by the residents and I sought assistance, and this was done through the relevant constituted authority,” Dunn stated.
The MP said that despite the media house correcting its headline and story it has not retracted the statements made earlier which claim that he illegally installed street lights.
“The story misrepresented my statements and I reject the report that any such admission was made. I am a law-abiding citizen of Jamaica,” he maintained.
“I want to thank the Jamaica Public Service for coming in and placing permanent LED lights. This will bring a greater sense of safety and peace of mind to the residents,” the MP stated.
