Opposition saddened by Enid Bennett’s death
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP), Dr Peter Phillips said the party is saddened by the death of stalwart politician Enid Bennett.
The former Cabinet minister and Member of Parliament (MP) from the parish of St Catherine died Thursday night in the Andrew’s Memorial Hospital in Kingston.
Bennett, 86, represented the people of West Central St Catherine for over 30 years for seven consecutive terms. She was the longest serving female MP prior to former PNP President and Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.
