Tony Gregory vows to treat patrons
JAMAICA Pegasus hotel’s ballroom in New Kingston is slated to be the venue for the season finale of Best of Jazz on Boxing Day.
Veteran singer Tony Gregory will be part of the main attraction, which will include Jamaica’s first lady of jazz Myrna Hague, noted balladeer/keyboardist Harold Davis, trumpeter/vocalist Dwight Richards, Maria Myrie, Jasmine Black, Marsha Edwards, and Take 5 Steel Band.
Gregory, who has been absent from the local stage for sometime, said he is committed to rock the house with a fine display of musical excellence.
“I have done it before [performing on Jazz In The Gardens] a few times and I looking forward to doing it this time around [inside the ballroom,” said Gregory, who is putting the finishing touches to his latest album to be released in 2018, featuring Ken Boothe, Tony Rebel, Ernie Ranglin, Dean Fraser and Toots Hibbert.
Gregory, who was invested with the Order of Distinction in 2012, is known for hit songs including Gypsy Girl and You’re Mine (We Belong Together) , a duet with Marcia Griffiths. His last major local appearance was on the 2016 staging of Rebel Salute.
