Water-less citizens growing impatient
Dear Editor,
Our tanks have run dry, just like the tears, now turned to salt beneath our eyes. It is a wretched situation for residents of West Cumberland, Duhaney Park, Cooreville Gardens, Patrick City, and other areas in which water has become a rarity.
If we are to cling to the adage, water is life, many of us are already at death’s door. What, for instance, could have happened to have caused so many malfunctioning water mains in areas which had had excellent water supply for years?
Today, more than ever, we are hearing and seeing advertisements inviting us to drink sufficient water. Beyond that, people are being encouraged to thoroughly wash their hands before and after certain activities, to avert diseases. But, there is an anomaly; water-less tanks and faucets in the land of wood and water. The current situation is akin to a cruel joke.
In a country where there is so much fascination with, and focus on technology, it is difficult to accept the trajectory taken by functionaries to rectify the declining water supply system. Essentially, their many porous excuses have all dried up.
Still, we are imploring those concerned to give us water, lest we perish!
