Man fined for drugs now on gun, ammo charges
DALTON Green, 50, who was on Tuesday fined more than $40,000 for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act when he appeared in the Westmoreland Parish Court, has once again run afoul of the law.
This time, he has been charged in connection with the seizure of two handguns and more than 100 rounds of ammunition at his house in Peggy Barry district, Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
The constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported yesterday that about 2:20 pm a search was conducted at Green’s home where the illegal firearms and ammunition were found in a section of his house.
The seizure, the police said, included:
• One Intratec 9mm sub-machine gun with a magazine containing 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
• One 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds of ammunition.
• One hundred and four 9mm rounds of ammunition.
“It is believed that the seizure is directly linked to the guns for drugs trade between Jamaica and Central American countries,” said the CCU. Green is scheduled to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court on Thursday, January 18.
