LEADERS Portmore United will be looking to return to their dominant ways when they welcome Humble Lion FC to Spanish Town Prison Oval in Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) midweek action today.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

Portmore United, beaten finalists two seasons in a row, have 44 points from 21 matches, six points clear at the top of the 12-team league standing despite losing 1-2 away to Harbour View FC last time out.

No doubt stinging from that defeat, they must be determined to rebound in emphatic fashion.

Last season’s semi-finalists Humble Lion have not quite hit their stride in this campaign, languishing in ninth place on 24 points. But the Clarendon-based team will be boosted by the 1-0 home win over former champions Tivoli Gardens on Sunday and should not be taken lightly, notwithstanding the significant 20-point gap between the teams.

Also at 3:00 pm today, last-placed Boys’ Town (12 points), who occupy one of the two relegation places, host 10th-placed Montego Bay United (22 points) at Barbican Sports Complex.

In the day’s late game slated to start at 7:30 pm, improving Waterhouse FC welcome promoted Sandals South Coast FC to Drewsland Stadium.

Waterhouse are seventh with 25 points and eyeing the possibility of a top-six finish which would land them in the play-offs. However, 11th-placed Sandals South Coast (16 points) need to piece together some wins if they are to survive the drop.

Three additional games will be played tomorrow to complete match day 22.

In another 3 o’ clock game that is bound to be keenly contested, Tivoli entertain high-flying Cavalier SC at Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

Tivoli Gardens’ fortunes have been up and down this season, epitomised by their run of two wins, two losses and a draw over their last five games. Still, they cling onto third place with 36 points and a win this afternoon could go some ways in righting the ship.

On the other hand, youthful Cavalier have been the in-form RSPL side in recent times, climbing to fourth with 34 points. They have been unbeaten in five games while registering four victories, the most recent of which was a 4-1 thrashing of hapless visitors Boys’ Town FC.

At Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland, sixth-placed Reno FC (25 points) tackle eighth-placed visitors Harbour View (24 points) at 3:00 pm, while at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in St Andrew, second-placed Arnett Gardens (38 points) welcome fifth-placed the University of the West Indies FC at 7:00 pm.
