Autopsy to be performed on 8-year-old beaten to death in Trinidad
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the body of an eight-year-old boy who died in Trinidad on Saturday from injuries he received when he was beaten with an iron pipe.
The police report that on Saturday afternoon, Ishmeel Phillips, was beaten with a piece of iron before falling unconcious.
The child’s mother contacted a neighbour who is a police officer, after the child fell unconcious.
Ishmeel died in hospital.
The police say they have detained a wheelchair-bound suspect in connection with the child’s death.
The mother is also being questioned.
