MoBay students view Black Panther
Two hundred students from Green Pond and Spot Valley high schools in Montego Bay and sponsors participated in the screening of Black Panther at the Multiplex Cinema, Montego Bay, St James last Friday.
The initiative was organised by SIAN Associates, a local brand strategy company in partnership with ‘We Will Rize Together’, a crowd-funding movement led by reggae artistes Chronixx and Fuse ODG, filmmaker Donisha Prendergast and social activity Chakabars.
The sreening also caught the attention of top corporate brands that have purchased blocks of tickets to make it possible for the students to see the film for free.
Following the screening the organisers hosted moderated panel discussions with Jamaican personalities such as Emprezz Golding, Donisha Prendergast and T’Shura Gibbs, executive director for the ‘I Love Mobay’ initiative.
Main sponsors include Seprod Foundation as the platinum sponsor, Digicel, CB Facey Foundation, GraceKennedy and Sagicor foundations as gold sponsors, in addition to Auto Pub Limited, Faith.Hope.Love.JA, Hullaine, Ingenuity, ION Communications, MM Haulage and Perry’s Manufacturing, ‘I Love Mobay’, as well as private individuals.
On their return to school, the students will continue the discussions around what they learnt from the movie in the form of essays.
