Woman, teen girl held with ganja at NMIA
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A teen girl and a woman, both from Ochi Rios, St Ann, are now in police custody after six pounds of ganja were allegedly found in their luggage at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) yesterday.
According to detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division, 26-year-old waitress Shelly Ann Thomas and a 16-year-old student are charged with the offences of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja and conspiracy.
Reports are that about 2:00 pm, Thomas and the 16-year-old arrived at the NMIA and checked in to board a flight destined to Barbados when their luggage was screened and three parcels of compressed ganja with an estimated street value of $22,400.00 was found in their luggage.
The two were subsequently arrested and charged.
They are schedule to appear in the St Andrew Parish Court next Monday.
