Holness is no ‘prince’
Dear Editor,
It has become evident that Jamaica is going in the same destructive direction of yesteryear. The current Government prided itself on having a young leader who is interested in positive change. Presented as a so-called “prince”, he has really manifested to be something else.
During his campaign Andrew Holness promoted the fallacy that under his Administration Jamaicans would be able to sleep with their front doors open at night. Well, that was an empty promise, because the current murder rate is the highest it has ever been in 11 years. Police reports indicated that 1,600 people were killed last year. As a consequence of his good governance Montego Bay is in a permanent state of emergency.
While Nero is busy fiddling our country’s economic state is in a deplorable condition. Our currency has absolutely no value and where are the job opportunities that were promised to young people? I can’t fathom how we voted out the old dinosaurs to vote in a young, inexperienced captain.
The youthful exuberance that was displayed to win the election was all smoke and mirrors. Poverty, corruption, unemployment, drugs, gangs, and politics are still the order of the day; Andrew, it can’t be business as usual.
Mr Prime Minister, your ship is sinking; police are unable to patrol and protect many neighbourhoods and teachers are threatening to strike due to their inability to feed their children. There is no excuse for your inability to set Jamaica in the direction of sustainable development.
Andrew Holness, frankly speaking, your priorities are in the wrong place.
Food for thought: A novice built Noah’s ark and the finest engineers built the Titanic.
