Clarks Town FC fined $100,000
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Clarks Town FC were this week fined $100,000 by the Competitions Committee of the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation/Charley’s JB Rum Super League after they failed to complete their fixtures.
According to a release from the Western Confederation, the Trelawny club was fined under Article 7 of the Rules & Regulations but were not expelled from the competition as they had played the minimum number of games allowed.
Clarks Town just missed relegation last season after they had finished ninth in the table and should have been one of the four teams relegated.
However, Sandals South Coast’s elevation to the Red Stripe Premier League opened up a space for them.
They were the first team to be relegated this season and will be joined by Catherine Hall and Montego Bay Boys, Club of St James and Roaring River of Westmoreland.
The competitions committee also awarded points to Hopewell United for their unplayed third-round game against Roaring River on March 6.
The game was not played, as Roaring River, the home team, failed to provide adequate security at the Petersfield Community Centre.
With the three points, Hopewell United joined Wadadah FC in third place on 26 points behind leaders Faulkland United on 31 points and Reggae Youths on 29 points and one more than fifth-placed Harmony FC, all with two games to be played.
