New date for PM’s Jamaica 55 awards
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has announced the new date for the Prime Minister’s Jamaica 55 Commemorative Medal of Appreciation Awards Ceremony.
The event will now to take place on Wednesday, April 25, on the Lawns of Jamaica House starting at 7:00 pm.
Grange said the ceremony is one of the main activities in the Jamaica 55 programme for celebrating and awarding outstanding Jamaicans.
Awards will be presented to individuals and groups (corporate or non-corporate) who, in the opinion of the prime minister, have made significant contributions to the development of the economic, social, cultural, or political fabric of Jamaica.
Grange said the awards ceremony will be a glittering affair in celebration of the awardees, some of whom are unsung heroes who have sacrificed much and given so much towards to the development of Jamaica over the last 55 years.
The ministry said the evening will feature first class entertainment by some of Jamaica’s outstanding performers including the National Dance Theatre Company, Xaymaca Dance Company, ASHE Performing Arts Company, gospel artiste Jermaine Edwards, singing trio One Third, and the Jamaican Folk Singers.
