Bogue edge Cambridge 1-0 in Sandals/ATL Div 1 football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Bogue FC have taken the advantage in their St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Division One semi-finals after edging 10-man Cambridge FC 1-0 at the UDC field on Monday.
Christopher Johnson scored the game’s only goal in the second half to give them the lead going into next Monday’s return leg set for the same venue.
Cambridge FC played 65 minutes of the game with 10 players after Christopher Johnson was sent off in the 25th minute after picking up his second caution of the game. He will miss the return leg.
Johnson was picked out on the right flank by a pass from Nicholas Brown, dribbled past three defenders before powering the ball past goalkeeper Chad Trough in the 53rd minute.
Cambridge FC, last season’s Division Two champions and favourites to win the Division One this season, shot back and had several good scoring chances but Bogue FC’s goalkeeper Marquise Malcolm pulled off a string of brilliant saves to preserve his team’s lead.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final tie will take place on Thursday when Club Ville SC take on Violet Kickers at the UDC Field starting at 3:30 pm.
