Coleman beauty gives Tivoli Gardens Jackie Bell KO title

Sean Coleman launched a 30-yard beauty in the 65th minute to earn Tivoli Gardens FC a 1-0 win over Harbour View FC, and their sixth KSAFA Jackie Bell title.

The match was played at the Constant Spring field Thursday night in the rebranded JN Bank Visa-sponsored competition, staged by the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA).

Scoring his first goal of the season, Coleman aesthetically guided in a Howard Morris cross, stunning goalkeeper Joel Johnson.

Harbour View, who started the match flat much to the chagrin of coach Ricardo Gardner, fought valiantly for the equaliser in the final minutes, time added included.

The breakthrough failed to come and after a further three minutes ran out, Referee Malica Reid promptly blew off the game.

Successfully defending their title, coach Omar Edwards praised the team, coaches, and management staff and the president of Tivoli Gardens FC, noting it was a “good final”.

“Both teams gave their best. Fortunately for Tivoli Gardens we came out big to win back-to-back titles.”

Tivoli have now won the Jackie Bell trophy in 2018, 2017, 2014, 2009, 2004, and 1994.

Coach Edwards, commenting on the final, said the team was solid defensively, creating some opportunities offensively to capitalise on one of them.

He pointed out that Coleman, who spent many years at Humble Lion before a stint at Jamalco to move to Tivoli, “has shown that he has good football within him”.

The goal that the midfielder scored, he added, was one “that deserves to win a title”.
