Asphault Assault on tomorrow
Dexterity series Asphalt Assault returns to its spiritual home at Palisadoes International Raceway in St Andrew tomorrow. The event is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
The event is organised by Team Streetz, a group of Christian enthusiasts.
“The public can come and expect lots of excitement,” Christopher James, spokesperson for the event organisers, told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.
The first Asphalt Assault was held last December and James is planning to make Saturday’s event just as memorable. He said the event will be pulling from the dexterity formats used on the island’s western end. It will continue with its wet and slide arrangement, but add the excitement of night life.
“This is going to be an evening-into-night event, much like what they have in Montego Bay. This hasn’t been done in Kingston,” he said.
The other reason for running late into the evening is that the event will feature an after-party scheduled for 9:00 pm.
“Come for the cars and stay for the party,” said James.
So far, James said there has been plenty of interest in the event. Christopher McFarlane, who is based in Barbados, is rostered to compete.
Unlike their second event, Dirt Splurt, earlier this year, it will be a single car on the course at any given time.
“We want greater spectator engagement, so the course is going to be more straightforward,” he said.
As Asphalt Assault is open to those in street cars, James said instruction for rookies will be available earlier in the day, ahead of the event.
