UPDATE: Missing plane found; no survivors

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The wreckage of the Cessna 206F aircraft which went off the radar yesterday evening was found two miles south of Duncan’s Trelawny this evening.

The three people who were onboard perished in the crash, informed Major Basil Major Basil Jarrett, civil/military cooperation officer at the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

He told OBSERVER ONLINE that the crash site was spotted by a JDF helicopter who informed police partners on the ground.

“It’s way too early to say what might have caused the crash,” Jarrett said, adding that emergency personnel will be combing the site between tonight and tomorrow morning for clues as to what might have caused it.

A release from the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA), this morning said that the aircraft departed from the Sangster International Airport in St James at 4:18 pm en route to the Tinson Pen Aerodrome in Kingston, with an estimated arrival time of 4:58 pm.

The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority had reported that the aircraft was last seen on radar at 4:36 pm, between Duncans and Clark’s Town in Trelawny.
