Update: Reggae Girlz trounce Guadeloupe 13-0 in World Cup qualifier
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz plundered minnows Guadeloupe 13-0 in their opening CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Group B World Cup qualifying game at the Stade Sylvio Cator.
The massacre was led by striker Khadija Shaw who scored six times — in the 4th, 37th, 42nd, 45th, 62nd and 73rd minute — followed by a brace from Dominique Bond-Flasza (43rd, 70th) and 17-year-old Giselle Washington (61st, 79th) making her senior team debut.
There were one apiece from Deneisha Blackwood (23rd), captain Konya Plummer (33rd) and another Under-20 representative substitute Kevena Reid (83rd), also making her senior team debut.
The win saw the Jamaicans jumping into an early lead with three points and a very healthy goal difference as they hunt the lone qualifying spot from the group to the final round scheduled for August 25 to September 2.
