UPDATE: Flash flood watch remains in effect for western parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says the flash flood watch issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Westmoreland, Hanover, St James, Trelawny and St Elizabeth since yesterday, remains in effect until 5:00 am tomorrow.
This is due to a trough across the western Caribbean that continues to produce unstable weather conditions west of the island.
The forecast is for light to moderate and at times heavy showers and isolated thundershowers across sections of western parishes tonight into Thursday .
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed through further releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
