Kingston Wharves march on after whipping MOF
Defending champions Kingston Wharves marched on to the second round in the 2018 National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Kingston & St Andrew Region Knockout Championships after defeating Ministry of Finance (MOF) 64-48 in the round at the National Housing Trust (NHT) car park last Friday.
The men from Kingston Wharves dominated proceedings throughout the match and at no point during the encounter they were challenged.
Former knockout champions Gleaner also had an easy victory as the North Street-based team whipped newcomers Jamaica Customs Agency 62-47, while the league’s champions Campari defeated former winners Seprod 60-42.
In other results, Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) edged Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 61-58; Jamaica Observer held off Digicel 54-53; Wray & Nephew stopped Jamaica Transit Company (JUTC) 64-43; Sagicor Jamaica continued their good run with a 70-56 beating of General Accident; NHT lost 50-57 to National Commerical Bank (NCB); Urban Development Corporation (UDC) beat Kris an Charles 67-50; and Stewart’s Auto Parts lost 64-79 to Petrojam.
The games were played for one hour, and the team leading at the end of that time or the first to 80 points was declared the winner.
Actions returns in the league with a full slate of matches in both divisions.
In Division One, UDC entertain Kingston Wharves at 12 Ocean Boulevard in Kingston in a match which the visitors should win comfortably; Wray & Nephew Limited travel to 40-42 1/2 Beachwood Avenue to face Jamaica Observer in what expected to be a close encounter with the edge given to the visitors; Seprod should get the better of Petrojam at home at Rockfort; Campari should also get the better of JUTC at Half-Way-Tree Road and NCB host MOF at the Wellness and Recreation Centre at 9-15 Phoenix Avenue.
In the lower division, Kris an Charles welcome BOJ at 2 Eureka Cresent; General Accident should continue to find going tough when they host Stewarts’ Auto Parts at 58 Half Way Tree Road; Sagicor Jamaica is given the edge to beat PAJ at home at 28-48 Barbados Avenue in Kingston; NHT and Digicel square off at 4 Park Boulevard in Kingston and Gleaner entertain Jamaica Custom Agency at home at 7 North Street.
All games are scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.
