Mitchell, 66, suffered a heart attack last Friday and was admitted to the University of the West Indies Hospital where he passed. The entertainer confirmed his father’s death on his Instagram page.

“The relationship with my father, I fear to say it has developed over time,” Marshall said. “As a youth, I woulda think ‘I’d never want to be a father like you’ but then here it is…you mature and you realise, looking back you can see, it’s almost like he was the best dad ever,” he continued.
Just three days prior, the singjay had asked for prayers for his ailing father.
“Please help me and my family send up prayers and positive energy for my father who suffered a massive heart attack and is now fighting in the hospital,” he said. “He is my general, confidant, best friend, advisor, biggest supporter, life coach and teacher. He is everything to me. We love him dearly. I thank the medical team for the effort and support. We staying positive because the major part of the battle is in God hands and not mans. Stay up Dad,” he continued.
