Weather Update: High pressure ridge weakening, small craft warning still in effect
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has reported that a high pressure ridge that is currently lingering across the island will be further weakened due to an approaching tropical wave, which is expected to move across the island later today into tonight.
A trough will develop across the island afterwards.
The Met Service is warning the public to exercise caution “if activities take you on the waters today” as a small craft warning remains in effect for offshore areas of the north coast and inshore and offshore areas of the south coast.
This morning is expected to be mainly sunny and hazy.
Isolated showers are to be expected mainly across sections of western parishes this afternoon, while windy conditions are expected along coastal areas of the island.
Tonight should mainly fair.
