US-based deejay Ricman is in the island ahead of Sunday’s performance on Tease, scheduled for Sugarman Beach in Portmore, St Catherine. According to the entertainer, he will be using the opportunity to promote his singles Guh Hard and Time is Now.

“The single Guh Hard is doing well on the radio, and inna the streets. It ah get a lot of play from selectors and anytime it drop inna the dance, the gal dem get wild,” said Ricman.

Bearing MS Entertainment imprint, Guh Hard and Time is Now were released on March 17 and April 2018, respectively.

He is upbeat about his performance on Tease.

“The buzz on the Tease show is big,” he said.

Tease will be headlined by American hip hop star Hood Celebrityy and rappers Star Boyz. Other artistes include Netwrk, as well as adult dancers Jodi Couture, Maria Jade and Kayoz.

Born in Content Gap, St Andrew, Ricman (given Ricardo Powell) attended the Content Gap All-Age before migrating at age 14 to live in London, England. He completed his formal education at Vauxhall College in South London.

As a 17-year-old he recorded his first single, Wreath and Roses, a collaboration with Spanner Banner. It did well on the England and European ethnic reggae charts. He then switched to the moniker Ricky Sprakett before returning to Jamaica and linking up with producer Arthur Wale of Free Willy Records. He recorded songs with Ninjaman, Devonte, Baby Chris, Vybz Kartel and others, establishing a foothold in the industry.

In September 2009 he migrated to New York, and three years later he re-emerged as Ricman. He joined forces with MS Entertainment in August 2017.

“I am going to be dropping a number of other singles this summer ’cause I am ready to step things up to the next level,” he said.

Those singles include There She Goes for MS Entertainment and Only Gal Alone for indie label Chase Mills Records.

“I will be shooting videos for these songs while I am in Jamaica,” he said. “Right now, Ricman is ready to go hard and make my name in the entertainment industry; there’s no turning back.”
