Shane O is pleased his with performance on Reggae Sumfest’s Dancehall Night on Friday. It was his first outing on the recently concluded festival in over a decade.

“It’s a great feeling to be back on Sumfest and in full force. I have been getting a great feedback as the crowd ah sing each and every song line for line, and it feels great. It took 14 years to come back and mi feel grateful that it was accepted by the fans,” Shane O told the Jamaica Observer.

Dressed in a white suit, the singjay emerged a few minutes after 10:00 pm to loud cheers from the audience.

His set included Last Days, Lightning Flash, Pardna Draw, Tek It Tell Me and A Mill Fi Share.

The singjay’s set was well received and cemented his place again as one of dancehall’s brightest young acts.

“It’s a great feeling. Di hard work that wi put out has been paying off. Wi still a do di work, so there’s no easing up,” he said. “Di songs dat I have been doing are connecting more with di fans. Di formula for me has been di topics, di concepts, and di relatability of di songs.”

Born Roshain McDonald, Shane O is from the Common Pen community of Red Hills Road in Kingston. He recorded his first song at age 11 and six years later was riding high on Lightning Flash, as well as other hit songs such as Crab Inna Barrel.

He said he is turning his attention towards promoting his latest song Keep Yu Hail.
