Arnett’s ‘Brother B’ to be honoured at Bring Back the Love charity
Veteran Arnett Gardens’ masseur Michael “Brother B” White will be this year’s recipient at ‘Bring Back The Love’ charity football matches on August 1 at Harbour View Mini-Stadium starting at 3:30 pm.
Clive “Busy” Campbell, organiser of the “Bring Back The Love” charity football extravaganza, had decided to pay tribute to White who has been at Arnett Gardens since their inception in 1977, and only retired a few years ago.
“I just think it is for us to show appreciation in football and to show appreciation to him for his years of service. It’s about giving respect to people who have contributed,” said Campbell.
The Bring Back The Love charity football matches have been around since 1996 and, once again, patrons will be asked to make a contribution of $300 and $100 for adults and children, respectively
As usual, a host of celebrities will be on show as they line up on the Entertainers Invitational team, including Christopher Martin, Wayne Marshall, Tony Curtis, Lukie D, Ihbomars, Ian “Pepe” Goodison, Ricardo “Bibi” Gardner and Jermaine Gonzales.
Meanwhile, Campbell said an invitation has been sent to Usain Bolt, who returned to the island a few days ago, to keep him fit as he continues his attempt to play professional football.
The Masters and Celebrities team will consist of Ian Wilkinson, Rudolph Speid, former national striker Ricardo Fuller, Jermaine “Teddy” Johnson, Byron Earle, Kevin “Pele” Wilson, Lincoln Taffe and Stephen Miller.
The Referees team will see Kevin Morrison, Karl Tyrell and Keeble Williams leading from the front, while the Christian Ambassadors will have the likes of Glen Laing, Vincent Ross, Alicia Richards, Delroy Morgan, David Laylor, Garfield Robinson, Phillip Riley, Garth Riley, Kevin Dunn and Wayne Clacken.
Special guest will be Jamaica’s Special Olympic team that finished second in Division Two at the Unified Football Cup in Chicago earlier this month.
