Faculty of Medicine class of 2021 hosts Evening of Excellence
In honour of the 70th year since the inception of The University of the West Indies and its first faculty — the Faculty of Medical Sciences — the medical and dental class of 2021 hosted its first Evening of Excellence last Sunday, July 22, at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.
The evening showcased the many talents from the students and staff of the faculty, and also served as the first-ever Smoker launch. Smoker is an over-60-year tradition which sees third-year medical and dental students write, produce and perform a play in aid of a local hospital.
The Smoker 2018 Team aims to raise $4 million in aid of the Port Maria Hospital in St Mary. The Evening of Excellence helped the class go one step closer in reaching that goal.
