Freak storm knocks down utility poles in Hanover
KINGSTON, Jamaica —
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that a freak storm in the Montpelier area of Hanover, has downed at least 12 utility poles, causing roughly 420 customers in Sandy Bay, Montpelier and adjoining areas to lose power.
In a statement this afternoon, JPS said that power is not likely to be restored to all the affected areas before tomorrow, August 1
.
JPS said it will, however, make every effort to ensure that restoration of electricity supply is carried out as quickly and safely as possible.
