Pearnel Charles to receive honorary degree from NCU
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Northern Caribbean University (NCU) says that it will be conferring honorary degrees to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pearnel Charles; Managing Director of the Development Bank of Jamaica Limited, Milverton Reynolds; and President of the Atlantic Caribbean Union. Pastor Peter Kerr, at its 95th commencement scheduled for August 12.
According to the NCU, the commencement will be done in two ceremonies; Charles will be conferred in the first ceremony with the Honorary Doctorate of Public Service. While, Reynolds and Kerr will both be conferred in the second ceremony.
The commencement will take place at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm respectively at the NCU Gymnatorium on the main campus in Mandeville, Manchester, the NCU said in a release today.
Reynolds will be conferred with the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters while Kerr will be conferred with the Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
Other honorees include Dr Owen Roberts, veteran educator and NCU alumnus, who will be the recipient of this year’s President’s Medallion, while hotelier, businessman and NCU Alumnus Dennis Morgan will be recognised as this year’s Product Sample.
NCU said that the graduation event will consist of a consecration service scheduled for August 10 at 7:00 pm followed by the Baccalaureate Service on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 am, and the Nurses Pinning Ceremony at 3:00 pm.
