JOCKEY ROBERT HALLEDEEN RETURNS A WINNER
Jockey Robert Halledeen, who has been out of the saddle for quite a while, announced his return to competitive race riding when he won aboard the Gary Subratie-trained Nuclear Dan Dada on the 11-race St Leger programme on Saturday.
Halledeen and Nuclear Dan Dada made all convincingly to win a maiden condition race by seven a half lengths going the distance of five and a half furlongs (1,100m). At no point in the race was Nuclear Dan Dad challenged, as the dark bay colt won ahead of Anwar (Bebeto Harvey) and Sacrifice (Dane Dawkins) in a final time of 1:08.3.
KILLER BEE FINDS THE STING
After finishing close in second position in her last four races, the Spencer Chung-conditioned Killer Bee finally found her sting to score a two-and-a-threequarters- length win in a Restricted Allowance event over six furlongs (1,200m) on Saturday.
The bay filly has been finding one too good for her in recent times but on this occasion the monkey was taken off her back. Ridden by Aaron Chatrie, Killer Bee turned for home in sixth position but came with a strong run on the outside of runners to beat Regal Prospector (Robert Halledeen), Amar (Dane Dawkins) and Zi Beast (Anthony Thomas) in the end.
The final time was 1:15.0. Amar finished in second place but was disqualified for causing interference twice to Regal Prospector in deep stretch.
DOUBLE FOR TRAINER RUDOLPH HARDIAL
Trainer Rudolph Hardial had a good day at the races on Saturday when he saddled two winners on the 11-race Sagicor Bank Jamaica St Leger programme.
Hardial’s winners were Zackontheattack and Songontrack. Ridden by Anthony Thomas, Zackontheattack made one move to win by a length and three quarters going six furlongs (1,200m).
Zackontheattack won ahead of Sir Frederick (Andre Powel) and Mr Ambassador (Ruja Lahoe) in a time of 1:16.1. With Leo Miller in the saddle, Song On Track out-battled Ray Ray (Dane Dawkins) by a neck in a five-furlong (1,000m) straight event. Twilight Princess (Doushane Gordon) was third with a final time of 1:03.0.
