Three to receive NCU honorary degrees Aug 12
SPEAKER of the House of Representatives Pearnel Charles; Milverton Reynolds, managing director, Development Bank of Jamaica; and Pastor Peter Kerr, president, Atlantic Caribbean Union, will be conferred with honorary degrees at the 95th Commencement Northern Caribbean University on August 12.
Said the university: “The commencement will be done in two ceremonies, the first at 8:00 am and the second at 2:00 pm. The Hon Pearnel Charles will be conferred in the 1st ceremony with the Honorary Doctor of Public Service. Mr Milverton Reynolds and Pastor Peter Kerr will both be conferred in the second ceremony with the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters and Honorary Doctor of Divinity, respectively.”
Other awardees include Dr Owen Roberts, veteran educator and NCU alumnus, who will be the recipient of this year’s President’s Medallion, while hotelier, businessman and NCU alumnus Dennis Morgan will be recognised as this year’s Product Sample.
The graduation events consist of a consecration service scheduled for Friday August 10 at 7:00 pm, followed by the baccalaureate service on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 am. These will be followed by the nurses pinning ceremony at 3:00 pm.
All events will be held at the NCU Gymnatorium on the main campus in Mandeville, Manchester.
