Petrojam HR Manager Yolande Ramharrack to act as SMA chair — reports
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Deputy Chair of Spectrum Management Authority (SMA) Yolande Ramharrack, who is also the human resource manager at the scandal-hit PetroJam, is expected to act in the post of chair of the SMA board following the resignation of Trevor Forrest, according to sources.
Her acting role would be until the board nominates and appoints a new chairman.

Forrest’s resignation is the latest in a purported web of corruption and mismanagement surrounding the energy portfolio under the leadership of then minister Dr Andrew Wheatley, who resigned from the Cabinet weeks after he was stripped of the portfolio.

The former SMA chairman, whose resignation took effect Tuesday, has been the subject of much criticism after media reports alleged that he overstepped boundaries in his request to belatedly add Carolyn Warren to the list of candidates shortlisted for the position of manager of administration at the agency.

Warren last week resigned as managing director of National Energy Solutions Limited in the wake of revelations by the People’s National Party’s Phillip Paulwell that she was convicted on a drug offence dating back to 1993.

At the same time, Ramharrack too has been embroiled in allegations of nepotism, with her qualifications and compensation package becoming a topic of public discussion when the Petrojam controversy started some weeks ago.
