TRYALL, Hanover — Anthony Walker, a representative of the Victims Services Division of Hanover which falls under the Ministry of Justice, has called on senior citizens in the parish to assist in the mentoring of young people in the society.

“I am asking you all to help us. This generation needs your help. We cannot make it without you because we are lost without you,” Walker pleaded.

Walker, a former councillor for the Cauldwell Division in the parish, was recently addressing a Jericho senior citizens’ recognition dinner at the Tryall Club in Hanover.

He reminded the senior citizens of their importance in the society.

“I must remind you of the importance that you have played, not just for Jericho. So, if you have a friend or a family member over in another parish, for example, Trelawny, who is having issues, you can make a call and make a talk to them,” Walker urged.

Walker and the Jericho Reunion Planning Committee, all showed appreciation and recognition to some 50 stalwart senior citizens from the community.

Among them were 98-year-old Essie Willocks, 92-year-old, Egbert Campbell, and 83-year-old Datilda Ferguson, who, with little effort, made sure she was not outdone on the dance floor.

The eighth staging of the biannual senior citizens’ recognition dinner, forms part of the Jericho Reunion’s three days of activities. Other planned events include a concert and a fun day.
