Vows — #TeamMullings: We Found Love!

For Roshane Anglin, graphic designer and typesetter at LMH Publishing Limited, and Consolidated Bakeries IT Administrator Stephen Mullings, July 28, 2018 will always have special significance, as that was the day the couple cemented their decade-long friendship into a lifelong commitment. With 95 family members bearing witness, the couple tied the knot inside the Gold Room of the Mona Visitors’ Lodge.

Vows presents #TeamMullings…

Love blooms… Roshane recalls

I met Stephen at the Boulevard Church of the Nazarene. A very close friend of mine had extended an invitation and I accepted. We started out as friends, but our friendship soon blossomed into a relationship. The relationship grew from strength to strength and we started to recognise in each other commonalities in thoughts and beliefs — especially our mutual love for Christ. I was happy. Somewhere deep down I knew this was the man God had blessed me with.

The proposal… As told by Stephen

On September 10, 2017, our dating anniversary, I invited Roshane to dinner at her favourite restaurant China Express. We went in and sat down. But then I “realised” that I had left my wallet in the car. I used the opportunity to retrieve the engagement ring. When I got back, I covertly revealed my intentions to the waitress and asked her to assist by placing the ring atop Roshane’s order of her favourite dessert: strawberry cheesecake. We had the appetiser and the main course. When dessert was served, I read Roshane a poem, removed the ring from the cake, went down on one knee and popped the question. She said, “Yes!”

Here comes the bride…

The exchange of vows took place inside a Dean Benjamin for Bendeani’s Events-styled Gold Room at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge. Gold and white drapes, teamed with a sweetheart crystal arch and bouquets of roses and lilies mounted on white columns created the backdrop for the ceremony.

Shayne Ward’s Breathless signalled the commencement of the procession. Groomsmen, clad in red jackets, white shirts, black bow ties and pants from Katts Fashion designer Corey Williamson, accompanied the bridesmaids — in flowy red chiffon Michelle McIntosh-made dresses — up the rose petal and baby’s breath-speckled red carpet aisle.

Major’s This Is Why I Love You heralded the bride’s arrival.

Roshane, in an off-the-shoulder AliExpress gown, and holding a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath, was escorted to her groom by her father Errol Anglin. The groom opted for a black and white tuxedo, black pants, a white shirt and a black bow tie from Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux.

The ceremony was officiated by Rev Ronald Grey. Following the signing of the marriage licence, Rev Grey pronounced the couple husband and wife. Hilary Duff’s What Dreams Are Made Of then cued the recession of the bridal party.

The reception…

Tables draped in white tablecloths bearing red chargers and white napkins, black and white runners, bowls with red beaded crystals, red and white candles set in three-tiered candle holders, centrepieces of tall clear vases containing cocoa leaves and baby’s breath, and seating arrangements printed on vinyl records were hallmarks of the reception.

The bridal party made their entrance to Tye Tribbett’s African Medley.

Rev Manley Wisdom was the evening’s master of ceremonies.

The delightful three-course meal prepared by Ricardo Eason of Paradise Catering, and toasts, preceded the unveiling of the four-tiered wedding cake by mothers of the bride and groom, Sharon Cardoza and Hopelyn Mullings, respectively. Roshane and Stephen then joined hands in cutting the Sweet Treasures by Kerry delectable, which was a three-part-fruitcake-one-part-coconut-rum combination. A surprise mother-daughter dance, and Roshane’s unannounced performance to Cater To You by Destiny’s Child followed. The newlyweds then shared their first dance as husband and wife to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. Formalities continued with the bouquet toss, before Stephen and Roshane joined their guests for a jam session on the dance floor.

The honeymoon

The honeymoon began at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and ended at Riu Ocho Rios, where Roshane and Stephen enjoyed the beach, pools, hotel entertainment and each other’s company.
