G2K idea sounds good
Dear Editor,
In response to an article in last Thursday’s Jamaica Observer, entitled ‘Use tax policy to incentivise water efficiency — G2K’, I find the suggestion by G2K President Stephen Edwards to be quite novel.
It is possible that we, as citizens, can do so much more to conserve water. However, I’m of the belief that some people aren’t aware of the many ways that this can be done.
On the other hand, sometimes it’s a matter of cost and know-how.
Many people do not make the correlation between water misuse/mismanagement/waste and how it factors into our drought periods. The onus is also on us. We have a role to play.
His proposal could be a real game-changer. This is the way we expect our Government to use the powers bestowed upon them for the betterment of the country and its citizens.
Make water conservation an affordable option through policy for our citizens. Such a policy stands to benefit both citizens and the Government alike.
