A PAN-tastic affair in ‘St Bess’
WAYNE Marshall, Shane O, Teejay and gospel artiste Rondell Positive led the entertainment package at last Saturday’s staging of PAN 2018 Regional 2 at Independence Park in Black River, St Elizabeth.
The more than 8,000 patrons welcomed Wayne Marshall with open arms as he ran through a catalogue of hits — both past and present. New Millennium, Good Love, and the current number one song in the country, Glory to God, were some of the songs that had patrons singing along.
“It was good vibes here tonight. I feel like I did what the Creator was calling me to do. For me, music is an art within itself,” said Marshall.
Dancehall’s rising stars Teejay and Shane O also delivered for the St Bess crowd. Lightning Flash, Mill Fi Share, and Partner Draw did the trick for Shane O, while Up Top and Ramp Ruff assisted Teejay on his musical voyage.
“PAN 2018 was nice. The youths came out to enjoy themselves, so we had to bring joy to the people and do it from the heart,” said Teejay.
Gospel singer Rondell Positive kicked off the evening’s proceedings on the main stage. He took the crowd to church as he led an electrifying praise-and-worship set. He wowed the audience with songs including Fire Medley and Most High.
“It was an exciting experience. I could feel and sense that the people got the message that I am carrying. Rastaman a dance, baldhead a dance, girl inna shorts have her hand in the air a dance. It was a great vibe,” said Rondell.
Disc jock Nico Bam Bam, who was on the musical wheels of steel, kept the crowd and engaged throughout the day with old-school and current hits. Comedian Dufton Shepherd and radio personality Miss Kitty were emcees.
Hosted by CB Foods, PAN 2018 is a culinary extravaganza which is in its 13th year. The occasion saw 31 competitors vying for a spot at the grand final. The first-place winner from each parish won $40,000 cash, while the second-place winner walked away with $20,000 cash.
