Master of Hall gets another shot in Royal Dad feature
The improving Master Of Hall gets another chance to showcase his worth when he takes on rivals in the Royal Dad Trophy feature at Caymanas Park today.
The highly rated Master Of Hall has been gaining a very strong reputation of late, having only raced four times in his career. The Fitzroy Glispie trainee has won twice with victory coming over seven-and-a-half furlongs (1,500m) on debut on May 22 of this year in 1:34.0 and over a mile (1,600m) on September 1 in 1:40.3.
And so the distance of nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) for the Royal Dad Trophy is right up Master Of Hall’s street. He seems to pack a lot of class and talent and should easily put away rivals with the minimum of fuss.
The Restricted Allowance event is positioned as the fifth event on the 10-race programme and is set to face the starter at 2:30 pm with first post at 12:05 pm.
Master Of Hall (Emperor Hall-Noassemblyrequired) has raced over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) before, and he finished second by a length to Royal Aviator. In that same race Master Of Hall was seen swerving all over the place as jockey Wesley Henry tried to settle the bay gelding, and by the time Master Of Hall got under control and got rolling, the race was all over.
The event finished in 1:58.3 with Master Of Hall clocking 1:58.4. Since then, Master Of Hall has slowly but surely coming into his own and with the talent he possesses, it will be hard to see him not being unsaddled in the winners’ enclosure when the race is over. Oneil Scott, who rode him on last when winning over a mile (1,600m), remains in the irons for this trophy race.
The only other horse in the small field of seven runners to have gone 1:58.0 for the distance is the Wayne DaCosta-trained Storm, who won in 1:58.3 on August 11, which was just one-fifth of a second faster than Master Of Hall’s time.
Axle Rod, Anna Lisa and Azaria are three horses in the line-up that should provide some competition for Master Of Hall.
Completing the field are Jacko Links and Sir Puddington. Both horses are capable enough and should do themselves justice, but getting past the top two is a huge ask for them.
