Four arrested in massive gun find at Kingston Wharves
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two women and two men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition, which were found in a barrel containing food items at the Kingston Wharves yesterday.
The constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said the weapons found include one sub-machine gun and nine 9mm pistols, along with 640 assorted rounds of ammunition and one silencer.
According to the lawmen, preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons and ammunition were shipped to Jamaica from the United States of America.
The weapons were found during a joint operation, which began about 5:30 am and included police officers from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC) and the Narcotics Division. The team was supported by the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs, CCU said.
The police did not disclose the identities of the four individuals arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
