16 more firearms seized at Kingston port
THE Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it seized 16 more firearms yesterday, following the seizure of 10 guns and approximately 640 rounds of ammunition at a Kingston port on Tuesday.
According to a release from the Corporate Communications Unit, the seizure was made in partnership with the Contraband Enforcement Team (CET) of Jamaica Customs.
Reports are that the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch, the JCF’s Narcotics Division and CET conducted secondary operations at the container terminal where they discovered the additional 16 pistols, 16 magazines and one 9mm round of ammunition yesterday.
The police said the operations have so far led to the seizure of a total of 26 firearms, 641 rounds of ammunition, multiple magazines, and a silencer in 24 hours.
“The operations and investigations continue,” the release said.
