Clarendon cop detailed killings by ‘special squad’, INDECOM official testifies

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The murder trial of Constable Collis ‘Chucky’ Brown this morning heard shocking details of how the “special squad” he was a part of carried out their alleged extra-judicial killings and how they would bring guns from the May Pen Police Station and plant them on their victims.

Assistant Commissioner of INDECOM Hamish Campbell, during his continuing testimony in the Home Circuit Court, said Brown “explained how they would make up the evidence in a meeting at the station to make sure their story was the same in explaining how the shooting took place”.

The witness further testified that Brown told him that the team had a special arrangement with the Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) for them to handle the scene and that it was also the CIB which had provided them with guns.

The trial also heard from Campbell that Brown told him that the team was provided with motor vehicles and keep-and-care M16 rifles and ordinary shot guns by a senior officer at the station.

Campbell, in explaining in how the shootings occurred, said Brown told him it was done by two methods — undercover and as actual police officers.
