How come, OUR?
Dear Editor,
I heard that the Office of Utilities Regulation has granted an increase to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) effective October 1, 2018. Why? How come?
By all indicators the JPS’s system did not suffer any great shocks from oil prices or natural disasters that warrant this kind of benefit.
Moreover, the quality and consistency of service has not shown any improvement.
As the entire country has had to “band wi belly” through these times, the JPS should be made to improve its own efficiencies to battle the changing economic indicators.
When electricity costs go up everything goes up. Look out for it! All the effort of the Government to control inflation will be for naught.
It is time we start thinking of the big picture when the utility companies routinely submit claims for increases when wages are not seeing increases.
How do we plan to truly grow the country when a firm with hostage clients like the JPS gets routine increases…just so!
Any increase is too much. Tell us how come, OUR?
