Deal Marker goes to stud on a winning note

FOLLOWING Deal Marker’s win in a claiming ($550,000-$500,000) event for three-year-olds and upward that included native-bred four-year-olds and upward non-winners of four on Saturday, trainer Fitzroy Glispie informed that the chestnut filly is off to the stud farm.

Ridden by apprentice Reyan Lewis, Deal Marker ( War Marshall – Right Marker) made one move to win the one-mile (1,600m) event over Market Force (Shane Ellis) and Winter Is Coming (Christopher Mamdeen) in a time of 1:40.0.

Deal Marker left the starting gates running and led the field chased by Market Force and Winter Is Coming down the backstretch.

She continued her steady gallop into the lane when Market Force tried to challenge but Deal Marker responded and sprinted off for her third win from 12 starts this season.

Deal Marker ended her career with four wins, two second-place finishes and six times in third from 18 starts with earnings of over $2.2 million.

“The performance by Deal Marker to win here was good. I am proud of her but unfortunately, she will be off to stud in a couple of days.

“She was always plagued with training issues and that is why we have decided to cut short her racing career and send her to the farm. She is a nice filly and she did well on the racetrack,” Glispie said.
